“S.M.A.R.T” Civilian Motorcycle Skills Challenge
This event will bring together experienced civilian riders on all street-legal motorcycles in a competitive environment to navigate various cone patterns. Competitors will attempt to ride through these challenging cone patterns without knocking over or touching cones. These courses are designed to limit every motorcycle rider’s capabilities.
This event will be limited to the first 125 riders to register. Registration will be $40 until July 1st and $55 after that. The deadline to register is July 18th. Food vendors will be on site. The proceeds will benefit the Osceola County Sheriff Explorers Program.
This skills challenge will require each participant to complete (3) different courses, which are listed below:
* Expert Skills Challenge Course – Challenging course for experienced riders
* Novice Skills Challenge Course – Beginners level course set up to introduce and challenge new riders.
* Challenge Ride – A course will be set up, and riders will get one chance to ride it and post a score.
* Slow Ride – A course where the rider tries to stay in a designated obstacle as long as possible.
Awards will be presented at the end of the competition for individual course winners and the top overall “Skills Champion for each class.”
Eligibility: The competition is open to civilian riders and active and/or retired law enforcement motor officers; however, no department-issued motorcycles or equipment can be utilized in any portion of this event.
Mandatory Competitor Attire: Competitors must wear long pants and boots that support the ankles. Riders will not wear clothing that is offensive or sexually explicit.
Protective Gear: All competitors must wear an approved D.O.T. helmet with either a face shield or some eye protection. Helmets will be fastened appropriately at all times while on the course.
